Introduction

Welcome to OS X on the TCU network! This document has been prepared for

TCU faculty and staff using a Macintosh with OS X v 10.4 operating system.

Also known as Tiger, this version of OS X gives you many new tools and

capabilities. Mac basics, new features and how your Mac works with the TCU

Network will be explored.

Mac Basics

This section will give you a starting place to use your new Macintosh. Visit

Logging In, Logging Out, Shutting Down

How to Log In

After you turn your computer on, you

will see a login screen. At the login

screen type your TCU network/domain

username and password (the same

username and password you use for

TCU email). Press Return or click the

Note: there will be a local_admin

account setup on your computer with a

different password than your domain

account password. You can use this

local_admin account in the rare case that your domain credentials fail to work.

When you change your domain password also change the local_admin password

to match.

How to Log Out

Click the Apple menu bar icon, choose Log Out.

Logging out allows OS X maintenance scripts to run

and should be done each evening before you leave.

How to Shut Down

Click the Apple menu bar icon, choose Shut Down.
