You can also search a website for links to its RSS feeds, and click one. (RSS
feeds are sometimes called XML feeds.)
Many websites have more than one RSS feed. For example, a newspaper's
website may have separate feeds for news, sports, and entertainment articles.
The RSS button in the address bar displays just one of those feeds. To find the
others, search the website for links to them.
To see all the RSS feeds in your Bookmarks menu, Bookmarks bar, and
Bookmarks library in one list, choose Bookmarks, Show All Bookmarks, and
click All RSS Feeds. If an RSS feed appears in more than one location, it's listed
multiple times here. The Parent column displays the folder that the RSS feed is
in.
Setting up RSS
The RSS preference pane (select Safari,
Preferences then choose RSS) lets you
choose how Safari handles RSS feeds,
which contain titles and summaries for the
articles on many websites. Safari displays
this information in a simple list that you can
quickly scan.
The Default RSS Reader pop-up menu lets
you choose which application is opened
when you click an RSS link.
The Automatically update articles in options let you choose which RSS feeds
are updated automatically, even if you do not visit those sites. The Check for
updates pop-up menu lets you choose how often the updates occur.
The Color new articles option lets you choose whether to color articles that are
new since you last visited that RSS feed. You can also choose the color to use.
You can choose how feeds are updated, whether to highlight new articles, and
how long to store the information from the feeds.
The Remove articles option lets you choose how long to keep article information
from RSS feeds. When you visit an RSS feed, all the saved information for that
feed is shown, in addition to the information currently in that feed. Click Remove
Now to delete all saved information for all RSS feeds.
